WHAT DOES 'ORBUS' MEAN?

ORBUS: Derived from "Orb" (which means sphere or circle) and "Business", Orbus is the literal representation of "Sphere of Business".

Orbus Business Networks operates as a Business Development Service, embodying an all-encompassing business philosophy that spans networking collectives in Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and other local affiliations, reflecting the spirit of networking events near me. Our approach transcends the conventional "business-to-business" model, encompassing start-ups, emerging professionals, entrepreneurs, and business proprietors, including those newly arrived in Canada. We prioritize the participation of women in business, echoing the essence of the Canadian business network, and cultivate opportunities for social networking to stimulate business expansion, in alignment with the principles of social network marketing.

Centered on business growth, we underscore the establishment of robust connections, akin to those emphasized in small business networking. Our engagement with mentors and alignment with influential figures within industries mirror the collaborative spirit of business networking groups near me. At Orbus, we firmly believe in actively contributing to our communities, echoing the sentiment of giving back seen in non-profit sustainability initiatives and empowering home-based enterprises through network-based and business-oriented assistance, similar to the ethos of supporting locally-based projects and organizations.

We champion responsible corporate citizenship, acknowledging that giving back and nurturing business affiliations can yield enduring positive effects on local, regional, national, and even global scales, reflecting a philosophy aligned with responsible business practices and business growth on multiple levels.

“At Orbus, we believe that healthy communities grow healthy businesses and healthy businesses grow healthy communities. Every time our members give back to their communities, we know the future of our communities and businesses just got better.”

THE ORBUS MISSION

Our goal is to foster congenial and dedicated networking among businesses and professionals in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto, within the framework of a Business Development Service. We ensure harmonious matches among our members and cultivate a "partners-in-business" mindset.

Orbus places a strong emphasis on infusing enjoyment into networking while maintaining robust commitment levels among members. Our networking paradigm gains strength from a membership agreement, a dedicated networking structure, an exclusive member-discount program, and an environment focused on referrals and leads, facilitated through both in-person gatherings and online interactions.

It's worth noting that, to fully leverage the advantages of our programs, memberships are distinctly exclusive for each chapter. This means that within each profession or specialty, only one representative member is allowed. Additionally, opportunities are extended to new immigrants in Canada. Moreover, we strive to ensure efficient and reasonable in-person time commitments, allowing our members to channel their focus on their respective businesses.

ORBUS GIVES BACK

We hold the conviction that the well-being of our community and the prosperity of our businesses are inherently intertwined within our Business Development Service. This is precisely why we've undertaken a dedication to fostering a more resilient community through a range of fundraising endeavors and a special emphasis on aiding new immigrants to Canada.

Our members are dedicated to practicing social responsibility, both on a personal level and as business experts. We advocate for the adoption of ecologically mindful and ethical business approaches, along with active engagement in community matters beyond the realm of work.

We have donated to dozens of local non-profit groups that help others in our communities.

Business networking refers to the act of establishing and nurturing professional relationships with individuals in the business community. It involves connecting with other professionals, entrepreneurs, potential clients, and industry influencers to exchange information, resources, and opportunities. Business networking can take various forms, including attending networking events, joining industry-specific organizations, participating in online communities, and leveraging social media platforms. The main goal of business networking is to build a strong network of contacts that can provide support, collaboration, and potential business opportunities. Effective business networking involves actively engaging with others, fostering genuine connections, and mutually benefiting from the relationships established. It plays a crucial role in career development, business growth, and accessing valuable resources and knowledge within the business community.

The main purpose of business networking is to establish and cultivate relationships with other professionals to mutually benefit and support each other's goals and interests. Networking allows individuals to expand their professional networks, gain access to resources and opportunities, and enhance their visibility and reputation in the business community. It serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering collaboration, and creating potential business partnerships.

To build a business network, consider the following steps:

  • Seek mentorship and guidance: Connect with experienced professionals who can offer guidance and mentorship in your industry.
  • Offer value: Be proactive in offering support, advice, or resources to others. Building a strong network involves giving before receiving.
  • Nurture relationships: Regularly follow up with your contacts, stay in touch, and maintain ongoing communication. Building a network requires consistent effort and relationship-building.

Business networking offers several benefits, including:

Networking professionally involves several key steps:

  • Define your goals: Determine what you hope to achieve through networking, such as finding potential clients, partners, or career opportunities.
  • Attend networking events: Participate in industry-specific events, conferences, seminars, and workshops to meet professionals in your field.
  • Be prepared: Have a concise elevator pitch and be ready to articulate what you do and how you can add value to others.
  • Actively listen and engage: Show genuine interest in others' businesses and ask meaningful questions. Listen actively and make connections based on shared interests or needs.
  • Follow up: After networking events, follow up with the people you've met. Connect on professional platforms like LinkedIn and schedule follow-up meetings or calls to continue building the relationship.
  • Give and receive: Networking is a two-way street. Offer support, advice, and referrals to others, and be open to receiving help and assistance when needed.

To build strong networking skills, consider the following strategies:

  • Develop effective communication: Practice articulating your ideas, actively listen to others, and improve your interpersonal communication skills.

Successful networking requires the following qualities:

  • Authenticity: Be genuine and sincere in your interactions. People appreciate authenticity and are more likely to connect with someone who is true to themselves.
  • Active listening: Pay attention and listen actively to others. This shows respect and helps build stronger connections.
